Timeline is sculpture created with the ideal of passage. This piece is a three-dimensional twisted infinity symbol from a single long strip of ¼ inch round stock greating a frame. There is an empty space at the warped rhombus shape where the two ends of the frame meet Along the frame there are small rungs placed at every inch. The rungs twist and turn along the sculpture creating an illusion of a mobius strip. At the bottom of the sculpture, it is supported by a metal stand at three points. At the center of the stand sits a triangular piece of wood perpendicularly to the stand, with the metal stand running flush over it.
The purpose of this sculpture is to express passage through time and no matter what events repeat themselves. This piece is presented as a Mobius strip which is a method of describing infinity on a flat object. If someone were to travel on one side of this sculpture eventually you would have traveled on both sides of the sculpture. This symbol of the infinite represents time, for time is infinite. The rungs describe how we try and measure time, labeling events, and major points in our history. However, as the old saying goes history repeats itself.
No matter what leaders or major governments will do, they will run around the strip and just end up back at square one. Finally, the warped diamond shape at the center of the sculpture is a brief pause in our historical labeling. For people to forget and start the process all over again.
